My kids LOVE dinosaurs! We have been using a lot of dino activities to pass the time during the long quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While the world around us is in a scary place, it has been helpful for me to remember WHO is ultimately in control and also to focus on the things I can control. Creating a safe and enriching space at home during this isolation IS in my control at the moment...so we are doing all things dinosaur to fill our days!
Dino Dioramas
We created some super simple dino dioramas using plastic containers, small stones, fake greenery, and some plastic dinosaurs (from Dollarama). The kids played with these for hours after we assembled them!
Dino Play
The kids and I had fun using their dinosaurs in their ordinary play throughout the day as well. We made a duplo town and filled it with cars and destructive dinosaurs!
Dino Learning
I made each of the kids their own little folder full of dinosaur activities that we have been working through each day. There are thousands of dinosaur printables online but I loved the two printable packs from the websites below. They have a good mixture of independent and parent-led activities. There is also a website that has a fun little list of songs about dinosaurs as well.
Since the weather is starting to warm up here, the kids have spent hours playing with their miniature dinos outside. It is so fun to see their imaginations running wild as they play in the sandbox and around the yard with them. There was a fast and furious thunderstorm that rolled through here awhile ago and our kids had fun building a dam out of rocks, sticks, and mud in a creek that appeared as a result of the heavy rain. They let their dinosaurs get washed down the makeshift "waterfall" and got as soaked as their toys!
Dino Crafting
